CARDEX is a real-life car index for iOS. You photograph a car, the app identifies it and turns it into a collectible sticker, and it joins your collection sorted by brand. You can also trade stickers with other players in a live Market.

This policy explains what the CARDEX iOS app collects, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for cross-app advertising or tracking. We try to collect as little as possible.

Who we are

CARDEX is an independent app built by Samuel Silva (the "data controller" under the GDPR). For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].

What the app collects

Account information

To save your collection and let you trade in the Market, CARDEX uses an account. When you sign up we store on our backend: your email address, the username you pick (public — shown in the Market and on your stickers), and an account identifier issued by our authentication provider.

Your signature

When you draw a signature during setup, it is stored on our backend and shown on the stickers you create. It is public to anyone who views those stickers in the Market.

Photos you take

When you catch a car, the app uses your camera to take a photo. You frame the car, and two images are sent for identification: the cut-out vehicle, and the full photo — the second one is needed to detect photos of screens or printouts, which we don't accept.

Because CARDEX lets you display and trade stickers with other players, your captured photo and the generated sticker are uploaded to and stored on our backend and linked to your account. We do not upload your camera roll — only the car you choose to catch.

The original photo of each catch is also saved to your device's own photo library, so you can find it again outside the app. That copy stays on your device, and you can turn the permission off in iOS Settings.

Please avoid capturing people or private property in the frame.

Location (optional)

If you grant location permission, a catch may be tagged with the place where you spotted the car, so you can remember where you found it. If you deny location, CARDEX still works fully and catches are simply not tagged with a place. You can change this any time in iOS Settings.

Gameplay data

We store the data that makes the game work: your catches, coins, daily streak, and Market listings. To keep the game fair, we also record limited technical signals to enforce daily catch limits and to detect duplicates and abuse (for example, catching the same model repeatedly to sell it in bulk).
